Z-Drive
R4 from OCZ is a blazing fast SSD that fits on a standard PCI-express
slot
on the motherboard. The drive has a capacity of 1.6TB on a full height
PCIe card. The Z-Drive R4 looks like any other PCIe card with no
cover/shroud on
it. It has two PCBs on top of each other to accommodate the controllers
and you’ll see a black heatsink to the extreme left of the drive which
cools a Marvell SAS controller. The back of the Z-Drive R4 is laden with
32 Intel MLC NAND chips. OCZ Z-Drive R4 runs on eight SandForce SF-2282
controllers. There are four controllers on each PCB. OCZ has packed an insane
number of MLC NAND chips on the Z-Drive R4 and the drive has a total of
128 Intel 25nm MLC NAND chips i.e., 64 chips on both the PCBs. This can
be easily understandable considering the drive can be bought for a whopping Rs.1000000 lakh [aprox.]
